How old is Coto de Caza?
While the name harkens back to the days of Spanish dominance of the land, Coto de Caza (Hunting Preserve) development began in 1964 as a joint venture between Chevron and Arvida. Building began in earnest in 1968 and envisioned a community built around a hunting lodge.
The original lodge now serves as luxury townhomes for rent under the Lodge at Coto banner. The remainder of the gated community was completed in 2003 and now contains about 4,000 homes.
